Happy 30th SITI Company!

10/27/2022

Last night was SITI Company's 30th Anniversary Benefit and also their 2nd to last show in their last season. I was blessed enough to be not only apart of the 2021 virtual Skidmore training with SITI Company last year, but was able to do it again this summer in person. To say that the training has helped me isn't enough. But that it has changed me and reminded me how much my body is cable of and how strong it is. Now anyone whose done Suzuki training can understand the anguish the body goes through when training, but I'm sure they also understand the almost euphoric feeling you get once you've done it. And to be able to do it with SITI Company where the members were so supportive and validating, to be able to sit and listen to Anne Bogart lecture was amazing. And while Suzkui requires a lot of discipline, they taught me that within those borders there is so much freedom. That stillness does not equal boring or stuck but can be alive and energized. And when it came to viewpoints they really gave us space to play and explore which as an actor I think is something so important and necessary. Thank you SITI for all the training, and for making sure that people like me felt welcomed and seen. I am so excited to see what comes next for each one of those talented artists. As the Chair, Jessica Hanna said to me last night "We're not celebrating the end, but the new beginnings. "

Cheers to that from this proud SITI Alumni!
